Mark di Suvero (b. 1933) is an American sculptor celebrated for monumental steel sculptures that combine industrial materials with lyrical movement. Emerging as a leading figure in postwar abstraction, he creates dynamic compositions from I-beams, salvaged steel, and cables that balance immense scale with a sense of weightlessness. Born in Shanghai and raised in San Francisco, di Suvero has exhibited internationally for more than six decades. His work is held in major collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and Storm King Art Center, where many of his iconic large-scale sculptures are permanently installed.
