Phung Huynh is a Los Angeles-based artist and educator who works in drawing, painting, public art and community engagement. Her work looks at cultural perception and representation. Some of it questions beauty standards through images of the Asian female body and cosmetic surgery. Her graphite drawings and prints on pink donut boxes explore assimilation among Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees in the United States, and her recent work addresses the return of looted Cambodian statues. She has had solo shows at Gagosian in Beverly Hills and the Sweeney Art Gallery at UC Riverside, and has made public art for Metro, the Los Angeles Zoo and the Los Angeles General Medical Center. She holds a BFA from Art Center College of Design and an MFA from New York University, and is Associate Professor of Art at Cal State LA. She is represented by Luis De Jesus Los Angeles.
