Byron Kim: A Little Deepness brings together early large-scale skyscapes with a full year of Kim's ongoing Sunday Paintings — a weekly ritual begun in 2001 in which he matches paint to a patch of sky and inscribes each small canvas with a journal entry. Spanning clouds, grandchildren, basketball, and grief, the series is at once calendar, diary, and meditation on duration. Together the works trace a lifelong inquiry into how a part connects to the whole, finding in the sky above a measure of the world below.
