“Recital” and “citation” share the same root: cite. For Mindy Seu, the recital becomes a practice of embodied citation, where research is transformed into collective performance. A Recital of Citations restages two performances alongside a reflection on the lecture performance as an artistic form and its relationship to polyvocality. Seu begins with an augmented reality reading of her book CYBERFEMINISM INDEX, an encyclopedia of more than 700 entries documenting online activism and net art. In the participatory lecture performance A SEXUAL HISTORY OF THE INTERNET, these histories are spoken not by a single lecturer but collectively by the audience through a shared script on their mobile devices. Citations become scores, lectures become shared recitations, and the authority of a single speaker gives way to a polyphony of readers.
