About Us: The American Imaginary is a group exhibition curated by three Terra Foundation Fellows drawn from the local community. Through distinct selections of photographs from the museum’s collection, the exhibition examines how ideas of “American-ness” are shaped by lived experience, migration, family memory, and visibility. Spanning the mid-nineteenth century to 1979, the works consider photography as a shifting site of identity, perception, and cultural definition.
