Hannah Traore Gallery presents Aleluya, a solo exhibition by Jose Duran. Through two series of paintings, Duran combines lush interiors and tropical flora to reflect on Caribbean colonial history and the African diaspora. Drawing on Cuban Rococo design and herbal knowledge from enslaved women like Paula de Eguiluz, his works honor resilience, feminine power, and personal memory—especially his late mother, whose influence imbues this vibrant, emotionally charged body of work.
