"Face to Face" puts Alex Katz and Julian Opie in dialogue around the human figure and the art of reduction. Katz’s flattened, tightly cropped portraits such as "Nikki II" and "Yvonne in Green" sit beside Opie’s graphic silhouettes, paintings on stone and continuous computer animations. Together they ask how little visual information it takes for a face, a stance or a single line to become instantly recognizable.
