Stanley Rosen, a master ceramic sculptor and longtime Bennington College educator, gained renewed recognition with a 2017 museum show at age 89. Known for hand-formed ceramics evoking ancient architecture, he spent decades teaching rather than exhibiting. His work has since entered major collections and galleries. A unique 1970s series with alligator motifs explored texture and primal imagery, though Rosen called them unsatisfying substitutes for deeper, ancient forms he sought to capture.
