Amanda Williams’ Run Together and Look Ugly After the First Rain revives George Washington Carver’s unrealized Prussian Blue formula, reimagining it as Innovation Blue. Collaborating with chemistry students, Williams explores the intersections of pigment, history, and Black identity. Using Alabama red clay, distemper, and watercolor, her paintings and collages examine color as both material and cultural signifier, connecting artistic lineage, communal memory, and the pursuit of autonomy.
