Derek Eller Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Scott Covert, known for his gravestone rubbings on canvas and paper. Since 1985, Covert has traveled globally to create "Monument Paintings," layering names and epitaphs into vibrant, expressionistic works. Using a frottage technique, he transfers names from tombstones, then embellishes the canvases with oil paint and sometimes glitter. Covert’s subjects, from famous to obscure, form connections in compositions that blend homage, performance, and visual diary.
