Alexandra Grant: Antigone 3000 (Anakainōsis) brings to completion a decade-long investigation into Sophocles' Antigone through new paintings and works on paper combining screen-printed text, paint manipulated by squeegee, and the recurring phrase "I was born to love not to hate" — mirrored, fractured, or obscured within each composition. Lines represent the rule of law; pours and splashes embody the ecstatic messiness of lived experience. The final works take their subtitle from the Greek term for renewal through destruction of the past self — explosive in form and color, proposing that the end is always a new beginning.
