Are We Still (Surfing)? is Yehwan Song’s first institutional solo exhibition, examining the internet’s shift from an open space to a controlled, corporate-driven system. Through a disorienting mix of video projections, kinetic sculptures, and grid-like structures, Song critiques modern web interfaces that restrict user agency. Using water as a metaphor, the installation mirrors the stagnant loops of algorithmic control, replacing freedom with surveillance and immersion in an overwhelming digital whirlpool.
