Bienvenu Steinberg & C presents Arquitecturas, the second New York solo show by Colombian artist Johanna Calle. Curated by Alexis Fabry, the exhibition features two bodies of work in which Calle intervenes on small-format archival photographs—applying nail polish or stripping emulsion to create what she calls "photographic drawings." In Arquitecturas, lacquer layers isolate architectural color systems tied to vernacular history. In Abstractas, erasure reduces images to abstract form, preserving only the distinctive palettes of 1960s–70s photography as subjects in themselves.
