Aleza Zheng draws on the tradition of Shan Shui, fifth century Chinese landscape painting, reinterpreting its approach to nature through abstraction. Her compositions reduce mountains and rivers to swirling blues and greens, emphasizing atmosphere over representation. Working with oil and ink on linen and silk, she uses autofiction and anthropomorphized forms to examine personal and cultural narratives across Eastern and Western contexts.
