125 Newbury presents Zhang Huan: Ash Paintings and Performances, the artist’s first New York solo exhibition in over a decade. The show brings together documentation of his influential performances from the 1990s–2000s with ash paintings, photography, and sculpture. Using incense ash from Buddhist temples as pigment, Zhang reflects on memory, history, and impermanence while tracing the evolution of his practice from body-centered performance to material-based work.
