Adrian Schachter: Assembly presents paintings standing on poles rather than hanging on walls, operating like street signs or figures gathered in the gallery space. Each work springs from a quote or fragment of language used as a prompt — including AI tools such as Midjourney and Stable Diffusion — producing imagery that runs off canvases onto fabric-covered frames printed with sketchbook-like drawings. Viewers must move through the installation to read the full pictorial field. Adding to the dynamism, paintings are swapped out weekly throughout the run. The exhibition proposes painting as an ancient future vision: a clash of primitive mark-making and computer clip art, symbols that grow and transform around you.
