Autofictions brings together Darrel Ellis, Libuše Jarcovjáková, Abby Robinson, Gail Thacker, and Ann Weathersby around photography's capacity to blur documentary and fiction through diaristic and performative modes. Ellis stages drag enactments of the Pietà; Robinson's decades-long AutoWorks self-portraits unfold as personal storyboards; Thacker pushes Polaroid's alchemical possibilities; Jarcovjáková documents Prague's underground queer scene under communist totalitarianism; Weathersby fossilizes anonymous women within colored glass panels. Together the works trace a photographic lineage running from Claude Cahun through Nan Goldin to the present.
