CANADA presents Beautiful Rejects, Anke Weyer's seventh solo show with the gallery, built on unfinished canvases rediscovered after a decade in storage. Painting over her earlier efforts, Weyer transformed abandoned work into a tribute to her own evolving practice. Her paintings draw on graffiti, nature, and postwar abstraction, deploying poured, thinned, and emulsified paint with fearless freedom. Layers of marks, cartoonish forms, and fragments of language surface and dissolve, holding abstraction and suggestion in charged, pleasurable tension.
