
Stefania Batoeva: Before Days Break presents paintings in which figures don't hold — loosening into atmospheric fields, closer to persona than form, leaving behind only partial phrases. Looping, string-like lines suggest invisible structures linking parallel realities; acid skies of green and peach pour through veils of gray to conjure worlds that are simultaneously dystopian and tender. Recurring motifs — a coat, a pair of heels, a shadow of dark hair — accumulate emotional weight across the works. At the exhibition's center, a king-sized bed positioned below a painting offers a soft break in tempo, a space between waking and dreaming where vulnerability is briefly permitted.
