Berenice presents 22 photographic works by South African artist Gabrielle Goliath, continuing her long-term series of the same name. Each portrait features a woman or LGBTIQ+ person of color standing in for Goliath’s late childhood friend, creating a collective act of remembrance. The series embodies mourning as care, affirming black girlhood as both loveable and grievable.
