Betye Saar: Drifting Toward Twilight is a site-specific installation that transforms the gallery into an immersive, contemplative environment centered on a 17-foot vintage canoe filled with found objects and natural materials. Combining assemblage, poetry, light, and sculpture, Saar reflects on memory, nature, spirituality, and the passage of time while drawing inspiration from her lifelong connection to The Huntington. The installation highlights the pioneering artist’s enduring ability to transform everyday objects into powerful meditations on history, identity, and the natural world.
