Blau im Gedächtnis (Blue in Memoriam) is an immersive installation by Gregor Hildebrandt inspired by the stained glass windows of Berlin’s Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Composed of thousands of vinyl record tiles cut to mirror the church’s window dimensions, the work translates sound, memory, and architectural light into a field of blue surfaces. The visible grooves of the records reference their former function as carriers of sound, creating tension between material presence, recollection, and reconstruction.
