Bliss Maintenance is an exhibition of new paintings by Bix Archer made in the hours between—after work, on days off, riding passenger on a long drive through the rain. The works unfold in domestic heat, along blackened shorelines, through grey-blue skies that feel outside of time. Archer's paintings attend to the small marks people leave and the way the world moves through the body. These are paintings of ordinary intimacy, made in the moments when things move more slowly.
