HESSE FLATOW presents Bread and Magic, Lior Modan’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. The artist creates low-relief paintings encased in velvet, transforming everyday objects into uncanny still lifes. Built from foam, plaster, cardboard, and wood, the works shift between figuration and abstraction as light moves across their surfaces. With references to stagecraft and illusion, Modan examines the fragility of images and the uncertain boundary between perception and belief.
