Call & Response is a solo exhibition by A.I.R. Fellow Stephanie Santana that explores cycles in American history, censorship, and Black women’s roles as custodians of knowledge. Through layered textiles screenprinted with archival images, Santana draws connections between past and present. Inspired by call-and-response traditions and the legacy of librarian Miriam Matthews, her work constructs a visual language that challenges erasure and invites reflection on collective memory.
