Prince Street Gallery is pleased to announce “Canyons," Susan Sussman’s second solo show at the gallery. Sussman continues to paint the power and beauty of vast landscapes. Now, in place of her Wyoming surroundings, she paints from two apparently contrasting settings that she found surprisingly linked: the ancient slot canyons of the American Southwest and the modern built canyons of New York City.
Sussman’s discerning eye for boundless skies, changing light and intense colors helps her find relationships between earth forms shaped over thousands of years and steel structures raised in recent decades. Solid walls are surrounding sky, creating canyons.
