Using the material conventions of early Christian icon painting—rabbit-skin gesso, viscus egg medium suspending ground pigments—the layers of my paintings accumulate like sediment. The surface is dredged, scraped back, leaving striations like stone and refined in search of light; space; revelation! or, piled high again.
A graduate of The Cooper Union School of Art and recipient of the prestigious Eleanor Gay Lee Gallery Foundation Scholar Award, Myers is currently pursuing his MFA at Hunter College.
