Nathalie Nguyen: Compartmentalization marks the first focused presentation of paintings by the co-founder of streetwear label Happy99. Seven oil paintings draw on dolls, toys, puppets, early internet culture, and childhood memory — including a self-portrait inspired by doll sculptor Gentaro Akari, a Hatsune Miku figure, and a shrine painting rooted in Vietnamese Buddhist tradition. Several works began as private birthday rituals, shared online or kept personal, now brought into public view for the first time. The exhibition positions painting as the intimate core of a practice that spans fashion, sculpture, and digital culture.
