Tala Madani’s *Control X* brings together new paintings and animations exploring creation, destruction, power, and control. Mountain-like portraits transform human figures into monumental landscapes, while *Alphabet City* imagines letters escaping books and dominating the humans around them. With dark humor, Madani examines how images, language, and social systems are created, dismantled, and rewritten.

Tala Madani

Tala Madani (b. 1981, Tehran) is an Iranian-American artist based in Los Angeles whose paintings and animations use dark humor and absurdity to explore power, gender, authority, and human behavior. Often depicting exaggerated figures in unsettling situations, her work draws on caricature and satire to examine social structures and cultural conventions. Her work is held by MoMA, Tate, the Guggenheim, LACMA, and the Whitney.
