Dana Saulnier: A Slow Burn presents lush oil paintings in which embodied forms — suspended in failing light — pivot, twist, rise, and fall within landscapes that never quite find peace. Drawing surrounds and permeates the paintings before and after, compressing and dividing at different speeds to birth new possibilities. Gestural abstraction carries traces of Renaissance and Baroque spiritual ethos into the present, where emotional tensions bear witness to shared contemporary life. Restless rather than resolved, the work holds together even as pressure and change remain omnipresent.
