Dear Mazie,

California African American Museum Los Angeles · South Los Angeles
Exhibition on view: Sep 9, 2025 - Mar 1, 2026

Dear Mazie honors Amaza Lee Meredith (1895–1984), the first known Black queer woman architect in the U.S. Commissioned by ICA at VCU, eleven artists and designers respond to her legacy through works across sculpture, painting, video, and performance. Drawing from her archives and letters, the exhibition reflects on identity, love, education, and architecture—imagining an exhibition-as-letter addressed to Meredith herself.
