Guillaume Dénervaud: Demeter

Page New York / Tribeca / SoHo
Exhibition on view: Apr 24, 2026 - May 30, 2026

Guillaume Dénervaud: Demeter constructs a fragmented system operating beyond its intended limits, taking its title from the Greek goddess who once halted all earthly growth. Dénervaud's paintings establish a coactive tension between architectural pencil line and transgressive brushstroke — oil paint diffusing boundaries, light leaking from sealed containers. Readymade marine fuel tanks on the gallery floor become monuments of spent energy, collapsing distinctions between real and illusory light. Each pigment — malachite, cinnabar, cobalt, lapis lazuli — carries its own biography of extraction, chemistry, and circulation, the palette inflected with the skepticism of the present moment.
