DIY Grrrl: Constructing, Disrupting, and Reclaiming Girlhood in the 1990s examines girlhood as a contested social and political condition shaped by self-definition, resistance, and community. The exhibition considers how young women and girls challenged dominant expectations through DIY practices, fashion, and material culture. Historical and contemporary objects address representation, bodily autonomy, and the multiplicity of girlhood across lived experiences. Curated by NYU Costume Studies Masters candidates under the instruction of Keren Ben-Horin.
