Adriana Varejão: Don’t Forget, We Come From the Tropics at HSM&L features new paintings from her acclaimed Plate series and a site-specific outdoor sculpture. The works, inspired by the Amazon rainforest and two decades of Yanomami research, reimagine historic Palissy ceramics in large fiberglass tondos with vivid flora and fauna. A curated selection of historic ceramic plates further questions artistic hierarchies, while the title honors Brazil’s vitality and Maria Martins.
