GGLA presents Dormmagory, DL Alvarez’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles. The title fuses “dormire” (to sleep) and “Magory” (inventive, knowledgeable), evoking subconscious intelligence. Alvarez’s graphite and colored pencil drawings source imagery from mid-to-late 20th-century textbooks and yearbooks, creating a surreal, non-linear visual narrative. The works explore nostalgia, innocence, absurdity, and unease through dreamlike, altered fragments of collective memory.
