Ellen Starr Lyon’s Nesting Rituals presents oil paintings of nests and eggs, self-portraits, portraits of her children, temporary spaces, and works from her Altar series, shown in the Project Room. Made as she moved from the Midwest to New York State and became an empty nester, the paintings explore motherhood, changing identity, vulnerability, fragility, and the strength found in embracing both.
