Kathryn Markel Fine Arts presents a new exhibition of paintings by Eric Blum, opening May 22. Blum builds his abstract works by layering inked silk on panel, sealing each layer with beeswax. Through a process of covering, cutting, and rotating, he creates moody, often monochromatic pieces that explore unfamiliar visual territory. Light, shadow, and translucent textures evoke a sense of depth, while recent works introduce more color and bolder forms than in past exhibitions.
