Ethos is a solo exhibition of new work by Aisha Tandiwe Bell. Using clay, wood, handmade paper, cloth, twine, and acrylic paint, Bell presents figures whose heads emerge from painted panels while their bodies remain within two dimensional surfaces. Extending earlier explorations of animate objects across multiple realms, the works consider fragmented identity and conflicting social philosophies.
