Lisson Gallery presents The Road to Heaven, Ding Yi’s first London show in over five years. Inspired by the cosmology of the Naxi people of Yunnan, the exhibition fuses Dongba religion with his signature cross motif. Works on Dongba paper reinterpret sacred manuscripts, while relief paintings evoke Yunnan’s mountains in psychedelic abstraction. This new phase, defined as “looking up,” expands Ding Yi’s practice toward the cosmos, spirituality, and cultural memory.
