Fashioning Chinese Women: Empire to Modernity examines the evolution of Chinese women’s dress through more than 70 ensembles from Shanghai, Hong Kong, and the United States. The exhibition considers changing silhouettes, materials, and craftsmanship as expressions of identity and adaptation. Garments displayed on custom mannequins highlight how clothing functioned as a means of self-definition across shifting social and cultural contexts.
