Wilkinson’s meticulously executed paintings explore fleeting reality through deceptively simple still lifes. Using photographs of flowers, branches, and fruit set against stretched linen and aluminum frames, he creates works in which blank canvas both represents and becomes the material itself. His “fluorochiaroscuro” technique uses fluorescent pigments to heighten light and transform ordinary subjects into vivid studies of time, space, and perception. Inspired by the stillness of the 2020–2021 lockdown, his paintings capture subtle shifts in light and shadow, offering a layered meditation on transience, materiality, and the beauty of the everyday.
