*Foot Notes: Shoes, Symbolism, and Society* draws on The Wolfsonian’s collection to read the first half of the 20th century through footwear. Rare shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo and Beth Levine sit among design drawings, posters, department-store shoe displays, an X-ray shoe sizer and toy rocket shoes. The exhibition explores how materials, technology and design met merchandising, propaganda and identity.
