Forgotten Eyes at Johansson Projects brings together painting by Pablo Benzo and sculpture by Soojin Choi, two artists who exploit the unstable boundaries between interior and exterior worlds. Operating at the nexus of Surrealism and Cubism, Benzo's pastel-hued interiors treat familiar settings as sites of mystery: flowers float as they wilt, furniture joints crease like flesh. Choi's ceramic sculptures treat the human body as a plastic form, with limbs and faces emerging from painted underglaze on hand-built planes of flattened clay that twist and twine, their figures looking outward with ambivalent expressions.
