Freak Flags presents Victoria Dugger’s mixed-media reworkings of the American flag at full flagpole scale. Using gingham, glitter, acrylic, fencing, barbed wire, and bodily adornments in place of stars, the works transform a national emblem into charged surfaces of color and obstruction. Created amid political unrest, the series questions who is protected, excluded, or exposed beneath the flag’s promise.
