Ethan Cook’s Free Hand presents hand-woven paintings and steel sculptures that rethink traditional artistic processes. His paintings, created from dyed cotton woven on a loom, embrace abstraction, spontaneity, and movement, with compositions inspired by dance. The steel sculptures, appearing as if cut from the paintings’ negative spaces, introduce a dynamic contrast between fluidity and rigidity. Together, these works explore the interplay between structure, chance, and materiality.
