Gaz Coffee: Hammer and Machete brings together three bodies of work by Liz Cohen tracing labor from farm to factory. The photograph series Conchita's Secret depicts Colombian women coffee farmers as they remix the country's coffee branding. Conveyer sets Tatlin's Monument to the Third International against an ancient Andean tunic, linking industrial and agricultural labor as engines of ideological exchange. Hammer and Machete translates these encounters into a collection of coffee wares inspired by the encounter of utopian labor ideologies, terraced agriculture, and mechanization.
