Gil Batle’s Almost Sanctuary marks his debut in the gallery’s main space, featuring intricately carved ostrich eggs, painted plates, and glass trophies. Drawing from 20 years in California prisons, Batle captures memories of violence, survival, and transformation. His works depict inmates, symbols of confinement, and his journey from incarceration to freedom. Using fragile materials like eggshell, ceramic, and glass, Batle turns personal history into a powerful act of reflection and resilience.
