An exhibition revisiting photographs by Gordon Parks through fresh reflections from the people and families he depicted, including relatives of Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X. Marking a milestone for The Gordon Parks Foundation, the show pairs iconic civil-rights-era images with newly solicited written testimony from subjects and collaborators.

Gordon Parks

Gordon Parks (1912–2006) was an influential American photographer, filmmaker, writer, and composer whose work documented race, poverty, civil rights, and everyday life. As the first Black staff photographer at *Life* magazine, he created some of the 20th century’s most iconic images. Parks later became a pioneering Hollywood director, best known for *Shaft* (1971).
