Derek Eller Gallery is pleased to announce a group exhibition at our temporary gallery space in Santa Monica, CA. Artists included are Julia Bland, Scott Covert, Steve DiBenedetto, David Dupuis, Dan Fischer, Clare Grill, Iva Gueorguieva, EJ Hauser, Lachlan Hinwood, Ellen Lesperance, Kevin Lowenthal, Alyson Shotz, Despina Stokou, Austin Martin White, Areum Yang.

Please join us for donuts and coffee at the opening reception on Sunday, June 8. Artists Alyson Shotz, Iva Gueorguieva, and Despina Stokou will speak about their works at 1 pm.

Clare Grill

Clare Grill (b. 1979, Chicago) is a New York-based painter whose work explores memory, touch, and the passage of time through layered, abstract surfaces. Drawing inspiration from historical embroidery samplers, Grill uses oil on linen to create textured, meditative works that evoke domesticity and care. Her process involves building up and sanding back paint, revealing traces of earlier marks and forms. Grill earned her MFA from Pratt Institute and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture. She has exhibited at Derek Eller Gallery, ZieherSmith, and Soloway, among others. Her work reflects a quiet, tactile engagement with presence and material memory.
