More than forty artists chart the radical material experiments of Black abstraction — poured, welded, torqued, and stretched. At MoMA PS1, opening November 5.
Peter Bradley (b. 1940) is an American painter and sculptor associated with the Color Field movement, known for vibrant abstractions inspired by jazz, improvisation, and the expressive power of color. Since the late 1960s, he has developed experimental techniques using poured and sprayed acrylics, natural elements, and found materials. Bradley also curated the landmark 1971 De Luxe Show, one of the first racially integrated exhibitions in the United States. His work is held in major museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, LACMA, the Menil Collection, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
